On The Mend

"On The Mend" I recorded Sunday the 20th of July 2014. It was a very bad year for me personally having to wait a lot longer for my treatment for my bad skin condition at the hospital, and it was very much done after about a month's Light Treatment when I was starting to see parts of my skin clear up and come back to me for the first time in almost a year.

I had not played in a while and was very rusty, but the feeling was now good inside me and I thought I would try and knock up a new piece on the piano. I just hit the record button without even playing a note to warm up, and when I had finished this was the result.

To be honest I never really liked the piece at all, but whilst I was feeling good in myself once again, I very much decided to title it "On The Mend" cause I was literally and put it straight onto Soundcloud.

Once again I was well pleased by the feedback, but even more surprised when my good friend Florian a.k.a. Flohbold sent me a message saying how much the piece had touched him, and along with it was a version with his guitar played over it.

It was his guitar for me that personally made me appreciate the piece even more, and I thought it was better with his guitar on it as well. But as this is an album of piano solos I had to omit his piece and stick with my original version.

It seems strange to me how this piece is actually nearly a year old, and it only feels as if it was done a few months ago. How time flies and as it has done, I have to even got to thinking myself, that this is perhaps yet another one of my stronger pieces, and certainly see more in it now that I ever did.
